part two

I feel the need to apologize for our house and our area. It's nowhere as nice as Kun's is. Or as comfortable.

Also unlike Kun, I don't have an actual bed with room for two. Hence, I'm not even sure where you'll be sleeping. We have four extra mattresses and plenty of extra bedding, but I'm not sure what you're used to or if you're sensitive to softness/firmness of mattresses (no double entendre intended). Really, you have two main options: you can sleep up in my room with me (the attic) or in the guest bedroom. The guest bedroom's fairly neat and has an actual bed in it. Moreover, the bed is a bunk bed, so we could both move down there if you wanted. However, it's right next to my parents' bedroom and even though my mum sleeps with earplugs, I'm not sure we could be that quiet.

The disadvantage with my bedroom is that I don't have any actual beds in it. I sleep on a mattress on the floor. We also have sleeping bags, although they'd be very warm for summer in the attic. It's also the hottest part of the house in the summer, though we could install the air conditioner. Moreover, it's also a bit messy and we'd have to rearrage; I don't think I'll be able to clean before PortCon and I'll only have one full day after Kun's, but I'll try to get what I can done.

The advantage is it's what I'm used to and most of my stuff is up there, not including my laptops. There's also a good amount of space -- just not on the floor. Finally, it's more removed from other places of the house and we don't have to worry quite as much about making noise (although we are still directly above my parents' bedroom).

You don't have to decide right now. Actually, it might be best if you decided after seeing the house. I just want to prepare you.

As for our house structure, we have four floors. In the bottom is the basement and main computer room. It's where my dad hangs out most of the day and works on his computers. There's also a weight set, the washer/dryer, ironing board, work bench, and food storage.

First floor. Kitchen (gas stove), half bathroom (toilet and sink only), dining room (my laptops and where I usually hang out; the only couch I consider comfortable in the house), living room (iguana cage, couch, books).

Second floor. Study (my mum's; also has an extra mattress), guest bedroom (with bunk bed, stuffed animals, and more books), bathroom (the only one with a shower/tub), TV room (TV, tapes, ski and bicycle workout machines).

Third floor. Attic, a.k.a. my room.

As for our area, there is a bit within walking distance: Collins' Park, Jumping Jacks (a locally-owned fast food place), the Scotia Library, a cinema, several Chinese restaurants, CVS (pharmacy), a few pizza and sandwich places, a small grocery store, a few playgrounds, and one elementary school, the junior high, and the high school. My parents don't mind if you want to make one or two trips to places nearby or if you want to come to the grocery store when my mum does her weekly shopping, but they'd rather not drive too much with gas prices the way they are.

Sooo . . . I think that covers everything. I want to make sure everything's set before I leave for PortCon and will call you tomorrow (with my mum available) after we finish dinner.
